The Pact opening at 2012 Sundance Film Festival

We are pleased to announce that Saturna song Periwinkle is featured during the closing credits in the upcoming film The Pact.  The film will open during the 2012 Sundance Film Festival where it has been selected to screen during their Midnight Series.

Entertainment Weekly says, “This is a more classic horror film, working on tension. It’s not about gore or violence. It’s a ghost story, and really well done.”

The Pact was written and directed by Nicholas McCarthy and stars Caity Lotz (Death Valley, Mad Men), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Sleepy Hollow), and Agnes Bruckner (Blood and Chocolate, Murder By Numbers).

Ryan Carroll and Eric Block have been busily working in the studio on new recordings for their new band Ten Million Lights and are excited to announce that it is finished and being released on 10/12/10.  It will contain eight new songs led off by new single “Kill Yr Idols”.

Ryan and Eric are joined by newcomer Emily Logan who adds vocals and guitar to all the tracks and rounds out their sound quite nicely.  For all you Saturna fans, you will notice that Ten Million Lights is very reminiscent of the sound you love.  How could it not, being that Ryan is singing and Eric is playing guitar.  Just add some female vocals and you get gorgeous harmonies and familiar melodies.

Thanks to Marke Lassig in Germany on his blog Schall Grenzen for including Saturna in such great company when reviewing the new Darker My Love record.  He said, “Bands like the Stooges, BRMC, Dandy Warhols, Lower Heaven, transport Calla, Saturna and similar cohorts quite been able to give me a permanent grin.”

Saturna is sad to see the great Ekko go as news of the demis of his blog Berkeley Place surfaced last week.  Ekko was a big Saturna supporter and we will miss his musings.

And Merry Christmas to all of you, especially to Hannah Holland from In Search Of Arcadia for including Saturna in her Exclusive Fabriclive Mix.

Saturna is excited that Straight Magazine reports that one of their hero’s, Bob Mould named them as one of his recent favorite bands and ask them to open for him on his upcoming tour.

Easily Fooled, a blog from San Francisco reviewed the show that Saturna opened for Bob Mould at The Great American Music Hall saying, “Saturna opened the show, and they sounded really good, both poppy and rock–and I don’t mean emo! Their guitarist, especially, produced some wonderful tones. One song took me right back to Killing Joke, the Chameleons, Echo and the Bunnymen and that guitar sound I love so much. Another, with its huge wall of heavy but melodic guitar, may not have existed at all were it not for likes of Bob and other musical pioneers. They paid the obligatory homage to Bob, but I get the feeling that they really meant it.”

Glad you enjoyed it Brad and you’re welcome Rone!
