Saturna are pleased to make the news on the CMJ website this morning.  CMJ reported on the film Weathered Underground, by Choose Interactive, that allows viewers to control the characters in the movie by choosing what decisions to make.  Its much like one of those Choose Your Own Adventure books we loved to read as children.  CMJ also reported that Saturna, The Lashes and The Blakes all participated in the movie and on the soundtrack.

This was a great project that we loved being a part of and were especially excited about the showcases at SXSW that we all played a part of.

Speaking of CMJ, Saturna is so excited to have cracked the CMJ Top 200 with the release of Some Delicious Enemy and to be getting so much support from the music community.

Just for fun, here’s one of the posters from the SXSW 2007  shows…

Saturna had another great week at College Radio.  This week, we had 11 stations chart Some Delicious Enemy, including 2 debuts at KLCZ in Lewiston, ID (#6) and KXUL in Monroe, LA (#14.)  We also moved up the charts at KPUR in Forest Grove, OR, hitting #2 and Bagel Radio in San Francisco, climbing up one spot to #3.  We also had new adds this week from WVMW in Scranton, PA, WTJU in Charlottesville, VA, WBAR in New York, NY, and KBVR out in Corvalis, OR.  We are so excited to announce that this brings us up to 148 stations that have added Saturna to their rotations.

Thanks so much to all the stations that have been playing our songs and to all the fans that have been requesting them.  Hopefully in the near future we’ll be coming to your towns to share the love.

We also want to thank all of the tremendous support we’ve gotten from internet radio.  Stations like Bagel Radio, Altrok, Darker Radio and tons more have given us an opportunity to be heard by millions.  If you haven’t already heard this is a medium that is about to disapear if we don’t fight back.  Please lend your support to internet radio and if possible call and write your congress persons to help Save Internet Radio.

Three Imaginary Girls June 24, 2007

We are very pleased that one of our favorite magazines in Seattle, Three Imaginary Girls, has posted a review of debut Saturna record Some Delicious Enemy.  Jimi, the author, also gives us an interesting lesson in Shoegaze 101, basically saying that while Saturna incorporates elements of the best of shoegaze that what, “Saturna has given us is a plain old-fashioned great rock record,”  and that the critics can categorize it however they see fit.  Don’t worry Jimi, we’re ok with being called shoegaze, but agree completely that we’re really just a rock band.

We’re also pleased that Eternal Outsider, a fan from Poland has posted a review on her myspace blog, saying with Saturna it was love at first sight and first listen.  She also calls Saturna scrumptious and tells the listener to let Saturna take you on a “dreamy trip into the unkown…”  We can’t wait to come play in Poland!  Check out her post here:http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=78603248&blogID=274611271

Big thanks to Lee Zimmerman for his review of Some Delicious Enemy in Amplifier Magazine where he says, “Prepare for blast off… you’re about to get lost in space.”  He then goes on to say we are the alien offspring of 60’s band Hawkwind.  Zimmerman continues with the compliments saying, “With ten songs that blend a cosmic crunch with the whoosh of a celestial swirl, Saturna takes their flights of fantasy into interstellar overdrive.”  See you in space, Lee!

Check out the whole Amplifier Magazine review here: http://amplifiermagazine.com/reviews/cds/saturna_cd.php

Interestingly named Emoticocks blog also has good things to say about Saturna in a post that included reviews of new albums from Yo La Tengo and fellow Portland band Jatun.  They said that Some Delicious Enemy really grabbed them, was a really solid effort and lacked that “noise for the sake of noise” feeling that a lot of shoegazer groups tend to fall back on at times.”  Thanks a ton, guys, we’re glad you’re enjoying the music.

Its been a crazy week in Saturnaland; flying the redeye back from New York and immediately playing our CD release party for Some Delicious Enemy at the Chop Suey in Seattle.  We had an amazing show.  We played with The Boggs from NY and Ships (ex-members of The Divorce, The Lashes, and Heather Duby’s band) a brand new band from Seattle that features a dulcimer and played a bitchin cover of The Stone Roses song Made of Stone (making a surprise appearance during this song was Sean Nelson of The Long Winters and Harvey Danger fame), not to mention they had this amazing poster made.  Dead Girl even showed up and crashed the stage.  Thanks to everyone that showed up and made our party memorable.

We also want to thank all the bloggers out there who have been posting songs from our new record.  Check out Extrawack who posted an MP3 of Roll Down, along with songs from amazing artists like Spoon, Robbers On High Street, Datarock and more.

The Glorius Hum posted Just For Thrills along with a great article about the White Stripes.

PC Planet also posted Just For Thrills along with songs from Band of Horses, The Cure, Grizzly Bear, Southerly, Theives Like Us, Klaxons and even Serge Gainsbourg.  Incidently we like Theives Like Us so much that we threw in one of their songs at The Lotus in NYC when we DJ’d there last weekend.

Saturna In NYC: Large Hearted City June 18, 2007

Wow, what a crazy weekend.  Saturna had a blast in New York city this past weekend, playing shows and DJing.  We couldn’t have done it with all the help from all our wonderful friends who let us crash their lofts, drove us around in their vans and helped us load gear.  Big thanks to Grace, Peter, Rachel, Jeanette, Lisa & Joe for all the hard work and to all of you who came out and supported us.  You guys rock!  We also wanted to thank all the promotors and clubs.  We DJ’d at The Lotus on Friday night and they treated us like kings.  They sat us in the VIP section, gave us free bottle service and more drink tickets than we could possibly drink.  The sound guy at Fat Baby also went way out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.  We felt the love, that’s for sure!

We’ve also been feeling the love from the blog world and internet radio in the last few days.  Large Hearted Boy posted about Some Delicious Enemy, put up MP3s of Pop Rocks, Roll Down, and Just For Thrills, as well as from a bunch of other cool bands like Helvetia, American Catastrophy, and Mike Johnson.  Check out his post here: http://www.largeheartedboy.com/blog/archive/2007/06/daily_downloads_1224.html

Indiependent Music blog also confirms our suspicions, reporting that we charted on the CMJ Top 200 and saying that this is pretty amazing for a self-released album, but that it must have had something to do with all the love from the blog-o-sphere.

Lots of people have been helping promote the release of our debut record this week.  Big thanks to the folks at MTV for listing Some Delicious Enemy along with selected other new releases for the week.  We were pleased to be listed along side of another Portland band Blitzen Trapper.
