Travis Greenwood of the Portland Mercury offers a great preview to the Reverb Records Holiday Party tomorrow night.  He also had some nice things to say about Saturna including “Saturna, featuring waves of distorted guitars and echo-y vocals, recalls early albums by the Jesus & Mary Chain. The trio has been making waves in the blogosphere with its 2006 debut EP All Night. ”

Thanks Travis, its an honor to be compared to early JAMC records.  See you all at the show!

Thank to the Power Populist blog for posting a blurb about Saturna.  They had a ton of nice things to say, calling Saturna an “outstanding new band” and saying that they are looking forward to our new stuff.  We sure are excited about our new material too.  We’ve been working really hard in the studio and should have some mp3s to post for you in the next few weeks.

Saturna is excited to announce that Pop Rocks has been added to Bluespace Radio.  If you haven’t check out Bluespace Radio yet, you really should see what everyone who loves ‘new wave’ music is talking about.  Their homepage shows the current song playing as well as the last five songs played.  If you were into new wave back in the ’80s you’ll love the mix they put together featuring older music along side with newer music that would have been ‘new wave’ if it had existed back in the ’80s.

In other news, Saturna has finally been discovered by China.  Skyrider from the MV8 blog in China listed a bunch of Saturna mp3s along with other featured underground bands The Go Team!, French Kicks, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, and Cursive.

Saturna is getting quite a bit of notice in Spain lately from blogs like Planeta Pop and Rated Muzik.  The newest addition comes from Manuel on the Lito Music blog.  He has a bunch of nice things to say, but at the end of the article he says that we have to prove ourselves by putting out more material.  Luckily we are rapidly finishing up our debut full length record.  Three songs are back from mixing, four more on the way by next week and then we’ll be ready to master.  There will be 10 tracks total for this record with the total time clocking in at over 50 minutes.  We are really excited about this record and can’t wait to share it with you all.  Thanks Manuel and keep listening.

Check out the poster for the upcoming Reverb Records Holiday party at the World Famous Kenton Club.  Saturna will be opening the night at 8pm and will be followed by The Upsidedown and The High Violets

The Kenton Club is coincidentally where the Raquel Welch film Kansas City Bomber was filmed.  Now that roller derby is all the rage again, you’ve got to check out this 1972 classic and then show up for Rose City Rollers games starting up early next year.
